NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has set up 2,333 property tax camps across 12 zones to encourage tax compliance and offer relief to property owners, as stated by Mayor Sardar Raja Iqbal Singh on Monday.
To date, 59,411 taxpayers have benefited from this initiative, resulting in a collection of ₹145.19 crore, according to Singh.
This initiative targets helping taxpayers access the Property Tax Amnesty Scheme 2025-26, dubbed Sumpattikar Niptaan Yojana (SUNIYO), with participation exceeding 56,000 taxpayers, the mayor reported.
“Given the positive response to the SUNIYO scheme, additional property tax camps will be organized in the coming days to ensure that all eligible citizens can take advantage of the amnesty,” Singh remarked.
Under this scheme, taxpayers can receive a complete waiver on arrears, including interest and penalties, for periods before the financial year 2020-21, provided they pay the principal property tax for the current year (2025-26) as well as the previous five financial years (2020-21 to 2024-25).
Singh encouraged residents to seize this ‘golden opportunity’ to settle their dues without penalties or interest.
He also announced an extension of the deadline for a 10 percent rebate on lump-sum property tax payments for the current financial year until July 31, as per the statement.
