BHOPAL: On Thursday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav convened a review meeting with officials from the Urban Development and Housing Department at Samatva Bhavan in Bhopal, where he issued several key directives.
During the meeting, CM Yadav emphasized the need for an action plan focused on developing affordable and accessible housing in urban areas, considering the socio-economic conditions of residents, to mitigate urban slum expansion.
He also highlighted the importance of enhancing the urban environment, urging the development of parks and promoting tree plantation initiatives across all housing projects, including those managed by development authorities and the Housing Board.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister ordered a comprehensive survey of illegal constructions around Bhopal’s Upper Lake and initiated a campaign for their removal.
He underscored the necessity to involve reputable national builders in urban colony development and called for the modernization of fire services to effectively manage emergencies in both urban and industrial regions.
The CM proposed drafting a proposal for the “Namo Train” service to improve intra-city rail connectivity in the state and mentioned his plans to discuss this initiative with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw soon.
Moreover, he prioritized housing provisions for Ladli Behnas under government schemes and instructed urban bodies to facilitate the organization of meat and fish vendors, ensuring suitable operational spaces are allocated.
CM Yadav also advocated for the expansion of the Deendayal Rasoi Yojana in religious areas, encouraging contributions from both government and private sectors. Additionally, he suggested forming self-help groups in urban areas to set up modern laundry services, with financial backing and designated spaces provided.
He directed that houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and other schemes should be promptly allotted upon the completion of ownership formalities. Highlighting the necessity of maintaining a clean urban environment, he called for the identification and development of reserved lands into city forests (Nagar Vans), with clear maintenance responsibilities.
In addition, state Urban Development & Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya announced that an integrated development plan for religious and tourist towns is in progress, including a Rs 2,800 crore plan for Chitrakoot, which features an Rs 800 crore Detailed Project Report from the Urban Development Department.
