LUDHIANA: On Thursday, Municipal Corporation (MC) commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal conducted a review of the property tax wing and building branch at the Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar. This initiative aims to accelerate the recovery of overdue payments and prevent illegal constructions.
Dachalwal set weekly recovery targets for officials and stated that progress would be closely monitored through regular reviews. He emphasized that strict departmental actions would be taken if these targets were not met.
Attendees of the meeting included Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh, zonal commissioners Neeraj Jain, Gurpal Singh, and Jasdev Sekhon, SE-cum-MTP Ranjit Singh, along with assistant town planners.
The property tax recovery target for the fiscal year 2025-26 is set at Rs 180 crore, of which Rs 131.49 crore has already been collected across four zones. Officials have been instructed to intensify efforts to achieve the remaining goal.
The building branch has also been directed to enforce strict actions against unauthorized constructions. Dachalwal urged residents to settle their dues promptly to avoid penalties, stating, “Citizen cooperation is vital for better civic services.”
