LUDHIANA: The Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority (GLADA) has intensified its crackdown on illegal colonies with a demolition operation on Wednesday. This initiative led to the removal of four unauthorized colonies and one unapproved building in the villages of Mullanpur, Manakwal, and Dhandran. The operation dismantled illegal roads and constructions in these areas. Despite receiving warnings, developers continued their unlawful activities, prompting GLADA’s special team to act without opposition.
GLADA chief administrator Sandeep Kumar stated that these enforcement actions are a crucial part of a larger strategy to prevent the spread of unauthorized colonies from the outset. He confirmed that further demolition operations are scheduled in the coming weeks to ensure adherence to government regulations and to safeguard the public from deceitful developers who lure innocent buyers with promises of affordable plots in unapproved developments.
Kumar also encouraged the public to verify property legitimacy before making purchases, warning that unauthorized colonies would lack essential services like water, sewage, and electricity. Prospective buyers can find a comprehensive list of approved and regularized colonies, along with their sanctioned maps, on GLADA’s official website (www.glada.gov.in).
The area development authority has suggested filing FIRs against the developers of these unauthorized colonies. A demolition was also carried out on Tuesday in four illegal colonies by GLADA.
