LUCKNOW: In response to the increasing demand for affordable housing in Bundelkhand, the UP Housing Board (Avas Vikas Parishad) is set to launch two new schemes in Banda and Chitrakoot districts.
According to officials, these projects will be located in prime areas, with 90% of the plots allocated for those intending to build their own homes.
“A greenfield township is being developed over 338 acres in Banda and 161 acres in Chitrakoot. The housing board has already designated the land and begun acquisition processes,” stated additional housing commissioner Niraj Shukla.
The authority estimates that it will require approximately Rs 1,390 crore for Banda and Rs 895 crore for Chitrakoot to acquire and develop these land parcels. The aim is to create 9,500 housing units in Banda and 4,450 in Chitrakoot.
Officials also mentioned that the residential housing scheme on New Jail Road, Saumitra Vihar in Lucknow, has been expedited. The necessary documentation and formalities for registering the scheme with the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) are currently underway.
The authority plans to expand its operations into Varanasi, Unnao, and Moradabad, having received necessary clearances to broaden the residential schemes. Over 10,500 flats from previous schemes in various UP cities will also be relaunched in September, including nearly 2,500 units in Lucknow.
In a related development, the board has initiated disciplinary actions against retired executive engineer Sunil Kumar Singh and junior engineers Narayan Prasad and Dinesh Pal Singh. Their pensions have been withheld as they are summoned for statements regarding charges brought against them during departmental inquiries.
