INDORE: The Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has initiated land pooling for the proposed 19.60 km Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor, which will host commercial and industrial ventures along both sides.
This infrastructure project aims to improve connectivity between Pithampur, the airport, and other vital urban areas, thereby facilitating commercial and industrial growth in the state. MPIDC’s Indore Executive Director, Himanshu Prajapati, stated, “The layout for the proposed corridor has been finalized, and we have begun the land pooling process. We have received consents for over 250 acres and are actively collecting documents from landowners.”
The corridor will extend 20 km in length and 75 meters in width, encompassing both government and private lands, with an anticipated extension of 300 meters on either side. The estimated cost of the project exceeds Rs 2,400 crore. MPIDC has released the plot numbers for lands from 17 villages, including Kordiabardi, Nainod, Rinjalay, Bisnavada, Navadapanth, Shriram Talavali, Sindoda, Sindodi, Shivkheda, Narlay, Mokalay, Dehri, Sonvay, Bhainslay, Bagoda, Tihi, and Dhannad.
Under the Land Pooling Act, landowners currently have the provision to reclaim 50% of their land. However, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced in March that farmers would be granted 60% of the total developed land for this Economic Corridor project.
As the land acquisition progresses, expectations rise regarding the economic advantages that the Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor will bring, fostering industrial growth and job creation in the region. The forthcoming months will be crucial as MPIDC strives to realize this ambitious infrastructure initiative,” Prajapati added.
