NOIDA: The district administration plans to establish daily camps in 14 villages in Jewar starting Friday. This initiative aims to expedite compensation payments for farmers affected by land acquisition for the Noida International Airport expansion, covering 1,838 hectares under phases 3 and 4.

The following villages will be involved: Thora, Neemka Shahjahanpur, Khwajpur, Ramner, Kishorepur, Banwaribas, Parohi, Muqimpur Shivara, Jewar Bangar, Sabauta Mustafabad, Ahmedpur Chaurauli, Dayanatpur, Bankapur, and Rohi. Camps will be held at primary schools, panchayat bhawans, and community centres in these villages until each affected farmer is accommodated.

Compensation will be disbursed at a rate of ₹4,300 per square meter, including interest. Officials estimate that approximately 16,000 farmer families will be displaced due to the acquisition.

District Magistrate Medha Roopam stated that these camps are designed to streamline paperwork and facilitate quicker payments. “Compensation distribution for acquired land will occur with complete transparency and efficiency,” the DM confirmed.

Revenue teams at each camp will gather necessary files from affected farmers, prepare compensation documents, and complete required formalities on-site. Each village will have a revenue inspector, lekhpal (village accountant), and amin (village surveyor) to assist in this process.

The previous round of such camps took place during the first phase of acquisition.

Jewar SDM Durgesh Singh has been appointed as the nodal officer for this initiative. He will inspect the camps daily alongside the naib tehsildar, ensuring that compensation files are verified and signed before being sent to the additional district magistrate (land acquisition) office for final processing.

According to Singh, “The camps will expedite the procedure, which would otherwise take 5-7 days through standard channels. Previously, farmers submitted their files to the lekhpal, who sent them to the amin for attaching land survey documentation, which were then forwarded to the SDM for signing before reaching the ADM (land acquisition). With these camps, all these processes will be finished in just one day.”

The district administration has urged all affected farmers to attend the camps in their respective villages to ensure timely documentation and payment of compensation.

Officials noted that compensation disbursement for farmers affected by Phase 2 of the airport expansion has already been completed. However, compensation for land acquisition of 189 hectares from seven villages for resettlement—Jewar Bangar, Sadullapur (Modelpur), Falaida Bangar, Karauli Bangar, Tirthali, Dhanpura, and Mehandipur Bangar—is currently ongoing, affecting 1,080 families at the same compensation rate of ₹4,300 per square meter.

Once the compensation for the seven villages, designated for resettlement and rehabilitation, is fully disbursed, the land will be acquired, and the YEIDA authority will commence development, according to DM Roopam.

The Phase 2 expansion will include a second runway, a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility, a parallel taxiway, and an increase in aircraft parking capacity with 27 new bays, in addition to a new terminal building of 90,000 square meters to accommodate an additional 2,750 passengers during peak times.

Under phases 3 and 4, the Noida International Airport (NIA) will evolve into a comprehensive aviation and industrial hub, integrating passenger growth with cargo and aerospace manufacturing. Plans include dedicated cargo facilities, aerospace clusters, and 300 hectares allocated for global aerospace players.

On the infrastructure front, both phases will significantly boost capacity, with apron expansions adding numerous aircraft bays and major terminal expansions of about 1.6 lakh square meters each—enhancing peak handling capacity for 3,500 and 3,000 passengers respectively. Cargo infrastructure will also see significant enhancements, expanding by 30,000 square meters and 50,000 square meters.

Operational efficiency will be improved via rapid exit taxi tracks for runways, along with supplementary electrical and mechanical systems, such as substations. Collectively, these phases will transform the airport into a major logistics and aerospace hub.
