THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The cabinet approved the tripartite agreement for the Wayanad Township project on Thursday and appointed S Suhas as the special officer for its execution.
The cabinet also decided to waive registration and stamp duty charges for Life Mission beneficiaries acquiring land for housing, contingent upon certification from the district collector or designated officer. This exemption was similarly granted to nine flood-affected families who received homes built by the Muthoot Pappachan Foundation in Chittar village.
A tribal taluk supply office will be established in Attapadi, Palakkad, with new posts, including taluk supply officer and rationing inspector, created, and staff reallocated from the civil supplies department. Financial support of Rs 95,32,500 from CMDRF has been sanctioned for 473 individuals in Pathanamthitta who have lost homes partially or fully due to natural disasters since January 2023.
The cabinet also resolved to implement the 2024 Telecom (Right of Way) Rules and approved a government guarantee for a Rs 50 crore loan that the SC/ST development corporation will secure from NSKFDC. Furthermore, retired district judge E Baiju will be reappointed as the registrar of the Lok Ayukta for an additional two years. A draft ordinance to exclude NUALS from the purview of the Kerala PSC (University Services) Act has been cleared, with a recommendation for its promulgation to the governor. The pensionable age for employees of Kerala Feeds Ltd will be raised from 58 to 60 years.
The rental fees for 40.47 acres of government land leased to the State Women’s Development Corporation in Vazhakkala, Ernakulam, have been revised. The land conservancy unit of the Travancore Devaswom Board’s land protection wing has received an extension until March 2026. The government has also allocated Rs 2,86,293 to cover the medical expenses of the late literacy activist and Padma Shri awardee K V Rabia, to be given to her sister Arifa. Additionally, the government guarantee for the Kerala Social Security Pension Ltd has increased from Rs 6,000 crore to Rs 14,000 crore.
Karthika S Pillai, daughter of deceased forest watcher N Sivarama Pillai, will receive a clerical position in the forest department under the compassionate appointment scheme. The cabinet has also sanctioned three tenders exceeding Rs 98 crore for Phase II of the Kuttanad drinking water project.
