RANCHI: The Jharkhand State Housing Board has sent a notice to former India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni regarding the alleged misuse of a residential plot in Ranchi, according to an official statement made on Friday.

The notice accuses Dhoni of using the plot, which was allocated for residential purposes, for commercial activities.

“A residential plot was allotted by the Jharkhand State Housing Board to cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, but it has been found to be used for commercial purposes. We have issued a notice to him for violating the rules and regulations,” said Sanjay Lal Paswan, chairman of the board.

Paswan noted that the issue was identified during an inquiry, leading to the issuance of a final notice to Dhoni.

The official warned that failure to comply with the notice could lead to actions being taken to cancel the plot.

Dhoni, who currently resides in a new house on Ring Road, had formerly lived at a property on Harmu Road.

Concerns arose that a diagnostic facility was being operated from the Harmu Road site, prompting the board to investigate.

In addition, similar allegations have emerged regarding the use of residential plots for non-residential purposes linked to the state office of the BJP on Harmu Road, which has also been addressed by the board with notices.

Investigations into both cases are ongoing, and further actions will depend on the findings.

Dhoni could not be reached for comments.
