HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has instructed deputy municipal commissioners (DCs) to immediately assume control of all administrative records from the 27 urban local bodies (ULBs) set to merge with GHMC. These records will be entrusted to the respective zonal commissioners.
Officials are required to seize minutes books from the municipal councils and close the existing bank accounts of ULBs, transferring their balances to the GHMC’s designated bank account.
Furthermore, the GHMC commissioner has directed DMCs to compile detailed information from all 27 ULBs, including lists of their employees, records of immovable properties, information on ongoing schemes and works, and all building and layout permissions issued over the past three years.
Additionally, officials must install GHMC nameboards at all municipal offices and update external signs in the newly incorporated areas to reflect their inclusion within GHMC jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, the municipal administration and urban development (MAUD) department has issued a gazette notification officially removing 20 municipalities and 7 municipal corporations from the scope of the Telangana Municipalities Act, 2019, categorizing them as “City” under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act, 1955, effective from December 2.
