GURUGRAM: The MCG has ramped up its actions against property tax defaulters, sealing two properties in Saraswati Enclave due to overdue payments totaling ₹43 lakh. Officials reported that one property had an outstanding tax of ₹20.9 lakh, while the other owed ₹22 lakh.
This action follows the failure of property owners to settle their dues despite numerous reminders. The sealing drive is part of ongoing efforts to bolster revenue collection and ensure tax compliance. In the past 15 days, the MCG has sealed 28 properties in Zone 1 alone. Additionally, 33 more properties have been flagged for potential sealing in the upcoming days.
“Property tax is a vital revenue source for the civic body, essential for funding municipal services and development projects in the city. We will maintain strict actions against delinquent taxpayers and urge all property owners to settle their taxes promptly,” stated MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya.
MCG officials are continuing to send notices to defaulters, advising them to pay their outstanding taxes to avoid further enforcement actions. Following the recent sealing operation, 11 property owners have lodged objections regarding their tax records, which are currently under review. Moreover, 2 property owners settled their outstanding dues after the enforcement actions commenced.
The recent sealing drive has resulted in a collection of ₹7 crore in just one day. To date, the MCG has collected ₹285 crore in property taxes this financial year, with expectations of further increases by March 2026 as enforcement efforts persist.
