GURUGRAM: On Thursday, the MCG sealed a multi-storey residential building in Jharsa due to unpaid property taxes amounting to ₹67 lakh. Officials indicated that further actions against significant defaulters are in the works under the ongoing recovery initiative.

According to zonal taxation officer Rajesh Yadav, the property’s owner had been repeatedly notified about the outstanding tax, but failed to comply, prompting MCG to take this action.

MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya stated, “Our municipal corporation is actively pursuing tax defaulters. It is crucial for all property owners to pay their taxes punctually to enhance municipal revenues and civic amenities. Those who neglect tax payments despite repeated notices will face repercussions such as sealing, attachment, and recovery actions. I urge all property owners to remit their taxes promptly to help foster a clean and self-reliant city.”

During a virtual meeting led by Vikas Gupta, the commissioner and secretary of the Urban Local Bodies department, officials reported that the civic body has already gathered over ₹261 crore in property tax. They were also directed to maintain diligence in their tax collection duties.

In his address, Gupta emphasized stringent measures against tax defaulters. To date, 17 properties have been sealed for owing significant tax arrears. He mentioned that the sealing efforts will ramp up in the near future to ensure compliance among all delinquent property owners.
