GURUGRAM: The Enforcement teams of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) sealed seven properties in the city on Tuesday due to non-payment of property tax totaling ₹1.8 crore, despite multiple notices sent to the owners.

The sealing operation was overseen by zonal taxation officer Pankaj Kumar, along with tax inspector Pankaj Saluja and their team. According to MCG officials, two properties in Kherki Daula had outstanding dues of ₹30,82,747 and ₹19,72,508, respectively. In Mohammadpur Jharsa, two properties had pending tax amounts of ₹27,35,536 and ₹22,65,126.

Additionally, a property in Narsinghpur with dues of ₹14,04,967 and another in Pace City-1 owing ₹18,17,872 were also sealed. A property in Palam Vihar, with around ₹52 lakh in pending tax, was sealed during the operation.

MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya stated, “Property tax is the primary source of income for the MCG, which funds the city’s cleanliness, roads, sewage, water supply, and other civic amenities. We will continue to take strict measures, including sealing properties, against defaulters who fail to pay taxes despite receiving repeated notices.”

He urged property owners to pay their outstanding taxes promptly to avoid punitive measures and mentioned that the corporation plans to ramp up its campaign against tax defaulters in the upcoming days.

The sealing drive successfully collected ₹7 crore in a single day. To date, MCG has accumulated ₹285 crore in property tax for the current financial year, with expectations of further increases by March 2026 as enforcement efforts persist. Additionally, this year, MCG and MCM have integrated artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance property tax revenue collection. AI is being utilized to identify residents with pending dues, assist them in resolving queries, and facilitate the payment of outstanding taxes.
