GURUGRAM: The Gurgaon administration has announced that all construction projects exceeding 500 sqm must now register on the Haryana State Pollution Control Board’s online dust portal to ensure effective monitoring during GRAP restrictions.
A complete ban on the burning of all types of waste has been implemented, requiring immediate action from relevant departments.
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar stated that controlling air pollution is a shared responsibility essential for public health and environmental protection. “Air pollution control is not merely a government formality but a collaborative effort for the well-being of the community,” he emphasized.
During a video conference meeting, comprehensive discussions took place about GRAP restrictions and how to ensure compliance. Following this, the DC issued stringent guidelines while assessing the pollution levels in the district.
Kumar asserted that full compliance with all GRAP-2 regulations must be achieved. It is essential that measures such as the installation of green nets, dust control equipment, and regular water sprinkling at construction sites are consistently implemented.
The DC instructed the transport department to conduct thorough inspections of diesel buses and heavy vehicles entering from other states and to issue penalties for any violations. Additionally, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon and Manesar has been tasked with ongoing water spraying on major roads and green belt areas.
There was a strong focus on increasing the deployment of anti-smog guns and water sprinklers. He mentioned that the pollution control board should maintain constant oversight of industrial units, taking strict action against those failing to meet emission standards. The DC reiterated that combating air pollution is an ongoing process that demands discipline and accountability from everyone.
He further noted that administrative efforts will only yield results if citizens actively participate in this initiative. He urged the public to adhere to the guidelines set forth by the administration to enhance environmental quality through collective efforts.
