GURUGRAM: On Friday, numerous residents from Signature Global City-1 in Sector 37D protested against the developer, claiming inadequate road connectivity.
Residents stated that the builder had assured them of a 24-meter-wide road leading to the main access point. However, over a year post-possession, the promised road remains absent, causing daily commuting difficulties. Currently, around 150 families reside in the society out of a total of 1,250 flats, with possession commencing last year.
The developer’s representative did not respond to inquiries from TOI. Residents highlighted that poor connectivity is more than just an inconvenience; it poses risks for individuals of all ages, including children and the elderly. “When we purchased these flats, the builder made grand promises, showcasing four 24-meter-wide roads and guaranteeing direct access to the Dwarka Expressway. Unfortunately, this promised connectivity does not exist, making it unsafe for elderly residents and children to leave their homes,” stated resident Praveen Chawla.
Dr. Amanjot Kaur pointed out the distressing conditions within the society: “One side has an open, filthy drain, while the other is filled with large potholes. Navigating this road is unsafe and inconvenient, and the lack of streetlights exacerbates the dangers after dark.”
Resident Parvinder Sharma added, “We navigate a narrow, unpaved roadway daily, which was never part of our initial expectations when buying these homes. The route we must use is owned by local villagers, who often deny us access and have even dug ditches, making commuting challenging.”
Residents have issued a warning; should the developer fail to take swift action to construct the promised 24-meter road and fulfill other outstanding commitments, they will escalate their protests and consider legal action.
Concerns regarding the impact on emergency services have also been raised, with protesters noting that ambulances and fire trucks struggle to reach the community promptly, posing a dangerous risk in emergencies.
