GURUGRAM: In a strengthened effort to address property tax defaulters, the MCG has sealed three properties located in Ambience Island. These properties have outstanding dues totaling Rs 3 crore. Despite numerous notifications and warnings, the owners have failed to clear the amounts owed.
This operation was executed by Rajesh Yadav, the zonal taxation officer of zone 3.
MCG Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya stated that the municipal body is engaged in an ongoing campaign against tax defaulters. “Property tax serves as the primary revenue for the corporation, funding various development projects in the city. Hence, we will take stringent measures against those who fail to comply,” he remarked.
Dahiya further noted that if the dues remain unpaid despite the properties being sealed, they may face auctioning.
A recent audit revealed that there are 120 property tax defaulters, each indebted to the corporation by over Rs 1 crore. The total unpaid property tax amounts to Rs 280.6 crore, in addition to Rs 18.4 crore in fire tax and Rs 35.6 crore in developmental charges.
For the current financial year (FY), the projected revenue from property tax is Rs 275 crore, which is lower than last FY’s estimate of Rs 300 crore.
In the 2024-25 fiscal year, the corporation was able to generate Rs 232.9 crore, representing 77% of the projected revenue.
