Gumla Admin Settles 746 Land Disputes

GUMLA: In a heartwarming move ahead of Diwali, the administration in Gumla has addressed numerous land disputes during this week’s Anchal Diwas event, bringing joy to many underprivileged families. One member of the PVTG Birhor community, Magdali Birhor, expressed her relief as her decade-long family land dispute was finally resolved.

A resident of the Birhor colony in Palkot block, she shared, “Several claims had been made on my land, including from my in-laws, creating years of struggle. Now, it’s resolved, and I’ve received official documentation proving my ownership.” Meanwhile, Pramila Nooram from Raidih block successfully secured a caste certificate that had been pending for months.

The Anchal Diwas initiative, launched in July this year, aims to hold public hearings at circle offices to resolve outstanding disputes. The initial phase, encompassing all 12 circle offices, concluded on October 11, with sessions held every Saturday.

DC Prerna Dixit emphasized, “The goal is to address land and other issues close to people’s homes, eliminating the need for visits to the district office. This initiative is also part of our effort to enhance governance at the grassroots level.”

She added, “We successfully resolved a wide array of concerns, including land disputes, mutations, agricultural loans, and issues related to caste, income, and residential certificates.” During the first phase, 933 cases were recorded across all 12 circle offices, with 746 resolved on the spot, while 187 are still under process.
