Gujarat Waives ₹200 Fee for Ownership Certificates in SVAMITVA

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat government has announced the waiver of the Rs 200 fee for ownership certificates under the SVAMITVA scheme, alleviating the financial strain on rural property owners, officials confirmed on Monday.

Property owners in rural Gujarat can now obtain their “sanad” or ownership certificate at no cost under the SVAMITVA scheme.

The SVAMITVA Yojana, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2021, aims to provide property cards to rural landholders nationwide.

Utilizing drone technology, the ‘Survey of Villages Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) Scheme’ surveys properties in populated rural regions, issuing property cards to residents.

The first property card is issued free of charge under this scheme, according to official information.

With Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s decision to eliminate the Rs 200 survey fee under the Land Revenue Act of 1879, rural residents will now receive both the property card and “sanad” (ownership certificate) for free.

The state government plans to allocate approximately Rs 50 crore to distribute around 25 lakh certificates throughout Gujarat, as stated in the release.
