LUCKNOW | GORAKHPUR: Recent incentive-driven policies, combined with enhanced business facilitation and connectivity, have attracted notable national and multinational companies to invest in Gorakhpur, previously overlooked by many investors, stated officials from the Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority (GIDA) on Wednesday.

According to Anuj Malik, CEO of GIDA, “The authority has allocated a record 182 acres of land for 54 new units, paving the way for a capital investment of Rs 5,800 crore and the creation of 8,500 jobs.” He further noted that, “Over the past five years, GIDA has received proposals amounting to Rs 9,445 crore, generating nearly 23,000 employment opportunities.”

The list of investors includes prominent global and national brands such as PepsiCo, Keyan Distillery, Gyan Dairy, Technoplast, Central Warehousing Corporation, Kapila Agro Industry, and APL Apollo Tubes. Recently, the Adani Group’s Ambuja Cement and Coca-Cola bottler Amrit Bottlers secured land for new projects, while Reliance Consumer Products Ltd and Shree Cements have shown interest by sending representatives to GIDA sites to explore opportunities.

To keep pace with rising demand, GIDA has not only enhanced its land bank but also initiated the development of the Dhuriapar Industrial Township in southern Gorakhpur, establishing a new industrial hub, where land has already been allocated for two major projects. “With world-class road, rail, and air connectivity now established, Gorakhpur—previously hesitant to attract even local investors—is quickly making its mark on India’s industrial landscape,” he added.
