GURUGRAM: In a strong move against illegal colonies, unauthorized dhabas, and warehouses, the district town planner has recommended filing 15 FIRs against 214 individuals.
Of these, 11 FIRs are proposed against 208 landowners involved in illegal plotting of 23.55 acres, while four additional FIRs target six individuals for constructing unauthorized dhabas and warehouses in restricted areas, according to officials from the district town planning and enforcement (DTPE).
The extensive violations are subject to the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975, and the Punjab Scheduled Roads and Controlled Areas Restriction of Unregulated Development Act, 1963.
Amit Madholia, the town planner, stated that the department had initially issued show-cause notices to landowners engaged in illicit land development. When their responses were inadequate, orders were issued to revert the land back to its original agricultural state.
However, as most offenders disregarded these orders, the DTPE conducted multiple inspections and initiated demolition drives in the affected zones. Following confirmation of the violations, the situation has now been referred to the Haryana State Enforcement Bureau for FIR registration and legal action.
Investigations indicated significant illegal developments in Farrukhnagar, Dhankot, Jatauli, Bhodakalan, Baghnaki, and Pataudi villages. Revenue records show that about 208 landowners are implicated in the unauthorized subdivision and sale of agricultural land without governmental approval.
The majority of these violations were connected to the Pataudi and Farrukhnagar blocks, where the DTPE identified extensive plotting and sales conducted without requisite licenses or infrastructure clearances, breaching the state’s urban planning regulations.
In addition to illegal colonies, the department uncovered unauthorized commercial activities violating the Controlled Areas Act, 1963. This includes the Sanwaria Dhaba in Sidhrawali village, Khushhal Hotel in Bhodakalan, and two illegally built warehouses owned by Rajendra and Ratanpal.
DTPE has recommended four FIRs against the responsible individuals, highlighting that such commercial activities in restricted zones present safety and regulatory challenges.
