FIRs in Manesar for Waste Dumping, Defunct STPs

GURUGRAM: The Municipal Corporation of Manesar (MCM) has announced the registration of FIRs against individuals and entities, particularly residential societies with non-operational sewage treatment plants (STPs), for illegally dumping waste and discharging untreated water. This action is part of the agency’s intensified zero-tolerance policy.

Civic body commissioner Pradeep Singh has instructed officials to enhance inspections and enforce immediate action against violators instead of issuing repeated warnings.

This directive was issued during a meeting with the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC), where environmental concerns and public hygiene were discussed. Singh emphasized that open dumping of waste and untreated sewage would no longer be tolerated, and immediate action is required when violations occur. This initiative follows increasing complaints regarding waste being dumped into open drains and vacant lots, which poses pollution and health risks.

“Societies with non-functional or shut STPs will be reported to the Haryana State Pollution Control Board,” an official stated. “We will recommend punitive measures to other departments, including the cancellation of occupancy certificates by the town and country planning department and the disbandment of residents’ welfare associations through district registrars,” the commissioner added.

Commissioner Singh also directed HSIIDC officials to carry out joint enforcement operations with local police in Manesar’s industrial sectors to address traffic and encroachment issues. Illegal parking and street vendors obstructing traffic will be targeted as part of these efforts.

HSIIDC was tasked with collaborating with the IMT Industrial Association to ensure strict compliance with parking regulations in industrial areas.
