DTCP Launches Sealing Drive in Gurugram’s Sushant Lok 2 & 3

GURUGRAM: This week, the district town planner (enforcement) will initiate a significant sealing drive in Sushant Lok-2 and Sushant Lok-3, targeting unauthorized commercial activities and illegal constructions.

Over 60 properties have received restoration orders, as many owners did not comply within the 10-day deadline. The sealing will occur in phases. Notices had already been issued to 24 properties running businesses like salons, guesthouses, and coaching centers, along with 36 properties found to have structural violations in stilt and setback areas.

The enforcement effort in Sushant Lok-2 and 3 forms part of the DTCP’s broader plan to tackle encroachment in licensed colonies that have increasingly misused commercial properties. Officials highlighted, “Numerous homeowners have transformed their residences into profit-driven establishments, including clinics, coaching centers, salons, and guesthouses, which has resulted in traffic congestion, a lack of parking, and complaints from nearby residents.” These alterations, according to officials, undermine the structural safety of the buildings and obstruct emergency services and fire safety clearances.

Following inspections in June, the department identified extensive misuse of residential lots. DTPE Amit Madholia noted that sealing and cancellation of occupancy certificates would follow for those who breach residential land use regulations. While some homeowners have voluntarily removed illegal additions from stilt areas, many others continue to operate commercial establishments, prompting the department to take stringent measures.

“The enforcement action is under the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act and applicable building bylaws. Property owners must revert their properties to their original residential status. Those who disregard this directive will face sealing and revocation of their occupancy certificates,” stated DTPE Amit Madholia.

The department has reiterated its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy for repeat offenders. “This initiative is not merely punitive but corrective — aimed at ensuring fair land usage and civic responsibility,” added an official.

Officials reported recurrent complaints from residents regarding noise, congestion, and the misuse of residential properties for commercial purposes. This situation has not only disrupted the tranquility of these neighborhoods but has also strained the infrastructure intended for residential use.

Madholia mentioned that the DTCP’s enforcement team will maintain oversight in licensed colonies throughout New Gurgaon to ensure compliance with zoning and land use regulations. “Our goal is to uphold planned development and prevent unauthorized commercialization. Additional enforcement actions are being planned in other licensed areas with similar violations,” he stated.
