DTCP Dismantles Illegal Colonies and Structures in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: In a stern warning to encroachers, the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) conducted several demolition drives this week, targeting illegal constructions in Sadhrana, Bhondsi, and within a group housing society in Sector 89.

A DTCP official stated that these actions are part of a heightened campaign against unauthorized plotting and building. “The objective of such drives is to curb encroachment at an early stage, ensuring buyers aren’t misled into purchasing in unauthorized developments,” he explained.

The operations were supported by personnel from the Sector 10A and Bhondsi police stations.

On Wednesday, an unauthorized colony in Sadhrana village covering five acres was dismantled. The drive led to the demolition of approximately 12 damp-proof course foundations, three boundary walls, and two under-construction structures.

Additionally, a complete earthen road network created within the colony was also removed to prevent further unauthorized development and plot sales in the area.

On the same day, authorities took action against an illegal shed erected on an internal road of Tulip Ace, a group housing colony in Sector 89, following a complaint lodged via the chief minister’s grievance portal, known as the CM Window.

According to the official, the shed was constructed for resident parking, and in response to the complaint, authorities eliminated the structure and restored the internal road within the housing complex.

Earlier, on Monday, another demolition action occurred in the urban locality of Bhondsi.

During this operation, four unauthorized colonies spanning around eight acres in the villages of Bhondsi and Rithoj were dismantled.

The action resulted in the destruction of 32 damp-proof course foundations, eight boundary walls, and two makeshift structures. Additionally, both pucca and kutcha roads were taken down to deter further activity.

Illegal colonies often lack essential sewage and drainage systems as well as proper road networks, leading to civic challenges in those areas, the official remarked.

Authorities reiterated their commitment to taking stringent measures against encroachment and encouraged property buyers to verify approvals and licenses before making investments in plots or properties to avoid future disputes or losses.
