DTCP Cracks Down on Unauthorized Warehouses in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has initiated consecutive demolition drives to tackle the issue of unauthorized constructions on the city outskirts, supported by a substantial police presence.

In Bilaspur, two illegal warehouses spanning approximately 25,000 sq ft and a 200 m boundary wall were demolished.

One day prior, enforcement teams dismantled two unauthorized colonies covering 7 acres in Farrukhnagar, destroying 14 structures, an under-construction house, and the entire road network.

According to DTCP officials, these actions are part of an ongoing initiative to eliminate unauthorized colonies and warehouses placed on agricultural and revenue land, especially in areas outside the city’s designated sectors. Such illegal constructions breach planning regulations and jeopardize homebuyers.

“The department is dedicated to preventing the misuse of agricultural and revenue land for unauthorized plotting and warehousing. We will continue to take strict measures against offenders and plan more drives,” stated district town planner Amit Madholia.

Officials noted that notices had been sent previously to property owners and developers involved in these illegal constructions; however, due to lack of compliance, demolition ensued. Police support ensured that the operations proceeded without disturbance.

The DTCP has recently increased its enforcement activities as part of a district-wide drive aimed at recovering government and revenue land from encroachments.

The department has also advised citizens to verify approvals and licenses prior to purchasing land or investing in real estate projects on the city’s outskirts.

Authorities indicated that similar operations will soon commence in other sensitive areas, including Pataudi, Sohna, and Manesar, to discourage illegal developments and maintain planned urban progress in Gurgaon.
