THANE: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, has initiated a rigorous investigation and legal measures against those responsible for constructing 65 unauthorized buildings in the Kalyan-Dombivli area of Thane district, officials announced on Friday.
These buildings have been declared unauthorized by the High Court, leaving residents facing eviction after being misled by builders who sold them properties without legal sanction.
“Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has instructed an investigation into the developers who deceived residents of these 65 unauthorized buildings in Kalyan-Dombivli. He has directed the municipal commissioner to lodge a complaint with the Economic Crime Investigation Branch,” the statement revealed.
A comprehensive discussion was held on how to assist residents affected by unauthorized constructions while complying with the court’s ruling, according to the release from the Deputy CM’s office.
“Public awareness boards should be installed at various locations across the city by the Municipal Corporation. A regularly updated list of official buildings should be published on the municipality’s website to help citizens access accurate information,” Shinde was quoted as saying.
