Delhi Protest: 4,000 Members Demand Halt to Land Auction

NEW DELHI: Over 4,000 members of the Revanta Multi State CGHS Ltd Society marched to the DM (South West) office on Monday, urging a stop to the auction of their land designated for building flats. This sale was mandated by a Rera court.

The society was established in June 2014 by two promoters and five others. Individuals were invited to join by paying a membership fee and purchasing land based on the planned size of the flats, with the understanding that they could settle the construction and development costs later. The total area owned by the society spans 44 acres across three locations in West Delhi.

As the flats were not delivered after four years, several members requested refunds. Some members approached the Dwarka court in 2020, which transferred the case to the Rera court. The Rera court then instructed the society’s management to refund the money, including interest.

“According to the order, the district administration has been directed to sell the land and refund the amount with interest to 92 members who petitioned the court. We oppose the implementation of the court order as other society members were not given a chance to voice their concerns,” said Capt Mahendra Singh, general secretary of the society’s ad hoc committee. “The sub-district magistrate of Kapashera has assured full cooperation to the delegation of members,” he added.
