Delhi CM: Master Plan 2041 Set for Quick Approval

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Saturday that Delhi’s Master Plan 2041 is expected to gain approval soon, during her government’s one-year report presentation in the south Delhi Lok Sabha constituency.

In attendance were South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and MLA Kailash Gahlot.

Gupta emphasized the anticipation among residents for the new Master Plan, which aims to steer the capital’s development.

The previous Master Plan 2021, which dictated land use and infrastructure in Delhi, has expired, resulting in a policy void for extended urban planning. The upcoming Master Plan 2041, in development for several years, is projected to clarify land use, housing, and infrastructure strategies for the next twenty years.

Gupta’s public meeting was part of an outreach initiative following her first year in office. She mentioned her government’s focus on service delivery, effective governance, and development throughout the year, stating, “With the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, we worked with the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. In this year, we have set the groundwork for a developed Delhi, ensuring that all areas of the city, including south Delhi, are integrated into the development process.”

Bidhuri highlighted that substantial funds are being allocated for development in south Delhi. “CM Gupta secured approximately Rs 40,000 crore from both the Centre and Delhi government for development projects in south Delhi. This funding is being utilized for key infrastructure such as metro expansion, elevated roads, flyovers, and improvements in electricity, water supply, sewerage, schools, dispensaries, and parks. Development projects worth between Rs 200 crore and Rs 700 crore are ongoing in each assembly constituency in south Delhi, with nearly Rs 2,000 crore specifically earmarked for village development,” he noted.

Gupta added that her administration is dedicated to tackling the city’s waste management issues to promote a cleaner and less polluted capital.
