NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has launched a new property tax calculator designed to help residents compute their property taxes easily, eliminating the need for app logins or middlemen.
A senior official informed PTI that this user-friendly calculator enables citizens to independently calculate their annual property tax. As part of efforts to enhance digital transparency, it is now accessible on the official MCD portal.
This straightforward tool fosters trust by equipping property owners with clear information, thus decreasing their reliance on others and streamlining the entire process for users.
Available under the property tax section, once users input the necessary information, they can download a PDF of their calculations to assist with payments.
By providing basic property details such as covered area in square meters, construction year, usage type, construction type, and occupancy status, citizens can now easily determine their tax liability.
The website also features a helpdesk for any needed assistance or guidance.
Property tax remains the primary revenue source for the civic body. To enhance revenue, the MCD has introduced a new initiative called “Suniyo” (Sampatti Kar Niptan Yojana), active until September 30.
According to recent data, the MCD’s Suniyo property tax amnesty scheme has significantly boosted revenue, bringing in over ₹304 crore within the first three months of its launch.
This initiative has also increased taxpayer numbers, with 102,142 individuals making payments under the Suniyo scheme during its initial rollout phase.
