DAVANAGERE: Deputy Commissioner GM Gangadharaswamy announced that 298 residential areas in Davanagere district have been designated as revenue villages, with title deeds distributed to 12,000 individuals at a ceremony in Haveri.
In a Thursday press conference, he stated that Davanagere ranks second among districts in title deed issuance. He noted that some beneficiaries have not yet received their deeds, emphasizing the March 15 deadline. For those who haven’t subdivided their government-approved land, a non-disposal file process has begun. “We’ve disposed of files for 4,000 individuals and issued records, while 10,000 files remain pending; these individuals should contact the tahsildar’s office,” he clarified.
Gangadharaswamy mentioned that government instructions for the upcoming census are in place, with necessary preparations under way. The appointment of enumerators has commenced and, based on initial information, the census is expected to take place from April 16 to May 15. “Self-verification will be available from April 1 to April 15, featuring 30 questionnaires that require responses. This will be the first digitally conducted census,” he added.
He also addressed the Durgambika Jatra, indicating that flex banners have begun appearing around the city and warned of strict action against unauthorized displays by the municipal corporation. A prohibition order is in effect around the Bhadra canal until the end of February to stop unauthorized water collection. “Farmers must remove unauthorized pump sets from the canal. If they are not voluntarily removed, they will be confiscated, and irrigation department staff will patrol at night. Non-compliance will lead to electricity disconnections,” an IAS officer warned.
SP HT Shekhar and ADC Sheelavant Shivakumar were in attendance at the event.
