CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) has prolonged its amnesty scheme until the end of August.
Originally set to end on August 15, the scheme successfully helped recover ₹82.6 crore in property taxes from defaulters.
The “Freedom from Penalty” amnesty scheme offers property owners a significant 95% discount on late payment charges for a one-time settlement of their dues. Initially applicable only to residential properties, the program has since expanded to include commercial and industrial properties.
“From July 15 to August 15, 37,259 property owners took advantage of this scheme. We encourage remaining defaulters to follow suit and clear their dues,” stated G. Sreekanth, CSMC administrator and municipal commissioner.
As of Saturday, the CSMC has collected ₹146.1 crore in property tax. Additionally, municipal data indicates that ₹11.5 crore has been gathered in water taxes this fiscal year. By the end of the 2024-25 financial year, the CSMC accumulated ₹157.7 crore in property tax and ₹26.3 crore in water tax.
“With over 7 months remaining in the current financial year, we expect tax recovery to exceed last year’s figures,” noted civic authorities.
