CSMC Expects Revenue Boost from Property Amnesty in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) anticipates a significant revenue increase this financial year due to the expansion of its property tax amnesty scheme.

Initially limited to residential properties, the scheme has now been extended to include commercial and industrial properties as well.

Under the updated scheme, named Freedom from Penalty, residential property owners can benefit from a 95% discount on late fees if they settle their dues in full by August 15.

Those making payments between August 16 and September 15 will be eligible for a 75% discount.

The Municipal Commissioner, G Shreekanth, implemented this scheme using special administrative powers.

“The amnesty scheme has been significantly broadened. By including all property types, we aim for a large number of property owners to clear their dues, expecting record property tax recovery this year,” stated a senior CSMC official.

By the end of the 2024-25 financial year, the CSMC had collected ₹157.7 crore in property tax and ₹26.3 crore in water tax.

Deputy Municipal Commissioner Vikas Nawale noted that the scheme’s expansion followed requests from guardian minister Sanjay Shirsat, local BJP MLA and cabinet minister Atul Save, along with various industrial and merchant groups.

Property owners can make payments at their nearest ward offices or via the CSMC’s online platforms.
