GURUGRAM: Hundreds of homebuyers from Aashiyara 37C staged a protest, claiming they have not received possession of their homes despite nearly full payment made years ago. The demonstration occurred near the residence of Haryana cabinet minister Rao Narbir Singh, where a detailed memorandum was submitted seeking intervention.
Many allottees reported paying 100% of their dues nearly three years ago, yet they have neither received possession nor a timeline for completion.
The developer, M/s Renuka Traders Pvt Ltd, has allegedly changed delivery dates 12 times, failing to meet any deadlines. Attempts to reach the developer for comment were unsuccessful. Allottee Gautam Maity stated, “We are burdened with paying both EMIs and rent. The stress is overwhelming—some buyers have even considered suicide.”
The minister assured the association that he would escalate the matter again and demand explanations from the officials regarding the delays.
Buyers of the affordable housing project in Sector 37C, represented by the Aashiyara 37C Allottee Association, have raised concerns about extensive construction delays, financial irregularities, and lack of regulatory action. Introduced in 2018 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and Haryana Affordable Housing Policy, 2013, the project was expected to be complete within four years but remains unfinished even after seven, with buyers estimating that only 80% of the work is complete.
During the protest on Sunday, buyers accused the builder of withdrawing all funds from the escrow account, halting construction, and abandoning the site after failing to pay contractors.
Despite filing a formal complaint with HRERA (Gurgaon), the association claims the situation continues to drag on without meaningful action. “Every time we approach HRERA, we receive new dates. The town planning department says it’s HRERA’s issue. We’re stuck in this cycle,” shared a homebuyer.
In response to ongoing appeals, the minister has written multiple times to HRERA and the senior town planner of DTCP, most recently on September 17, 2025, requesting a detailed report within 15 days. However, the buyers assert that there has been no response thus far.
The allottees are demanding strict legal and financial action by HRERA against Renuka Traders Pvt Ltd and its directors. They have requested an emergency tripartite meeting with HRERA, DTCP, and the association to create a completion plan, a written commitment from the company director on a binding possession schedule, strict monitoring of the escrow account, and accountability for officials who failed to enforce compliance.
