PATNA: On Wednesday, Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha announced the launch of a new initiative titled ‘Bhumi Sudhar Samvad’ (Land Reforms Dialogue) on December 12. This program aims to assist citizens in resolving land-related issues and updating their documents.
A dedicated team named ‘Udan Dasta’ will be established to oversee and prevent land fraud. Sinha noted that the department has received approximately 46 lakh applications concerning land disputes, with nearly 12 lakh already resolved and documented on the portal. “The government is committed to addressing land disputes at the grassroots level while ensuring transparency,” he stated.
During a press conference at the Revenue and Land Reforms Department, Sinha elaborated on the upcoming ‘Bhumi Sudhar Samvad’, which will be held in Patna from 10 AM to 12 PM. A dialogue is also scheduled in Lakhisarai on December 15, where attendees can bring their land-related documents for immediate assistance.
He proposed several measures to combat land disputes, mutations, forgery, and encroachments on government land, emphasizing the need for timely processing of applications. “It’s crucial to resolve issues at the grassroots level,” he added.
Sinha also expressed concerns regarding some department officials’ ties to land mafias, promising strict action against any involved employees. “No official should prioritize personal gain over duty. Scheduled meetings will be held in every panchayat to ensure employee accountability.” He warned against rejecting applications without valid justification and announced that a special campaign to reclaim government land from encroachers would commence in March.
“Any individual found guilty of encroaching on government land will face severe penalties, and those who provide information on encroachments will be rewarded,” Sinha concluded.
