Bail Granted to Two Realty Employees in Noida Techie Death Case

NOIDA: A local court has granted bail to two employees of a real estate firm linked to the death of a 27-year-old software engineer earlier this month. According to lawyers, the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Surajpur granted bail to Ravi Bansal and Sachin Karanwal, employees of Lotus Greens Construction Private Limited, in connection with the drowning incident of software engineer Yuvraj Mehta in a waterlogged pit near a construction site in Sector 150.

The accused have claimed they did not commit any offense and are being falsely implicated. Advocate Manoj Bhati, representing the accused, stated that bail was granted because the offense charged is bailable. The court released both individuals on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 each and imposed several conditions, including cooperation with the investigation.

The court ordered the accused not to leave the country without prior permission and to seek approval for any foreign travel. Additionally, they are prohibited from tampering with any prosecution evidence during the investigation.

The case involves the death of Yuvraj Mehta, who drowned after his car fell into a waterlogged pit near a construction site on the night of January 16 and 17. The incident prompted public outrage and protests, bringing allegations of negligence against the developers and the Noida Authority.

Police had also arrested Abhay Kumar, director of MZ Wiztown Planners, along with Bansal and Karanwal. Abhay Kumar is currently in judicial custody. An FIR has been registered under sections for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and causing death by negligence, while a separate case exists against officials of the two firms for alleged environmental violations. A special investigation team formed by the Uttar Pradesh government is looking into the matter.
