AP Government to Build Permanent Homes for the Poor: Minister

VISAKHAPATNAM: Housing Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy has announced that the state government will build permanent houses equipped with all necessary amenities for the underprivileged, while also completing pending projects in NTR colonies. During his recent visit to housing developments in Gidijala (Visakhapatnam district) and Paidivada Agraharam (Anakapalli district), he inspected construction progress and interacted with beneficiaries.

During his visit, Minister Parthasarathy evaluated the existing conditions in the layouts and engaged in discussions with the residents. He attributed the issues to the previous government’s inadequate planning and assured that the current government would address these deficiencies, ensuring high-quality housing for the poor.

The minister urged women from self-help groups to make use of the financial support provided by the state to realize their dream of homeownership. He highlighted that additional aid would be available for beneficiaries from BC, SC, and ST communities: ₹50,000 for BCs and SCs, ₹75,000 for STs in plain regions, and ₹1 lakh for STs in tribal areas.

As part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme, the government plans to allocate 3 cents of land to rural beneficiaries and 2 cents to those in urban areas. Additionally, the minister announced plans to build shopping complexes near NTR colonies to boost the economic capability of the impoverished.

During his inspection of the housing layouts in Gidijala (2,098 plots on 45.76 acres) and Paidivada Agraharam (10,228 plots on 320.83 acres), he affirmed that the housing scheme would be executed thoroughly, devoid of political agendas. He also warned that a comprehensive investigation would be launched regarding any irregularities in the housing projects and construction efforts.

Bheemili MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Pendurthi MLA Panchakarla Ramesh Babu urged the minister to ensure prompt provision of basic services, sanction further financial assistance, and assist in inaugurating houses in a celebratory manner. They also requested that the remaining lands be distributed to local inhabitants.
