AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Friday that his government is committed to providing housing for all the poor by 2029. He plans to allocate housing plots for those without land.
In his address to the Assembly, Naidu urged eligible beneficiaries who have yet to receive a house to apply. He assured that both the central and state governments would shoulder the responsibility of housing for all.
“We are dedicated to constructing homes for all the poor by 2029 and providing housing plots to those who lack land,” Naidu stated, emphasizing the government’s goal to house everyone.
He further mentioned that if suitable housing plots are not available, the government would construct apartments. Before the Ugadi festival in 2026, Naidu stated that the government aims to host three lakh housewarming ceremonies under the welfare housing scheme, promising a total of ten lakh such events in 2026.
On the topic of agriculture, Naidu noted that Andhra Pradesh contributes 10 percent of the national agricultural output. He outlined a five-pronged strategy focusing on water security, demand-driven crops, food processing, marketing, and governmental support to foster agricultural development.
For the fiscal year 2025-26, he announced that Rs 13,772 crore has been allocated for free power to agriculture, along with an annual aid of Rs 20,000 for farmers under the Annadata Sukhibava welfare scheme.
In contrast to the previous YSRCP regime, which provided only Rs 7,500, Naidu highlighted that the TDP-led NDA government is offering over double that amount.
Naidu also unveiled plans to expand AI agronomist and farm mechanization services on a large scale. He revealed that investments of Rs 14,230 crore have been directed towards the food processing sector, indicating the government’s strong focus in this area.
With 15 lakh acres currently engaged in natural farming across 8,168 villages, the goal is to increase this to 50 lakh acres. Additionally, plans are underway for a large cocoa city near Eluru, and the government will provide power at Rs 1.5 per unit to aquaculture, among other initiatives.
Naidu reassured farmers of ongoing support from his government under all circumstances, including assistance for tenant farmers.
Meanwhile, Irrigation Minister N. Rama Naidu informed the House that water supply to Anakapalli will commence by June 2026 through the Polavaram left main canal. He also noted that Rs 600 crore has been allocated in the FY27 budget for the Sujala Sravanti project in North Andhra.
The House was subsequently adjourned until Wednesday, March 4.
