Andhra Pradesh Cabinet OKs ₹4,451 Cr Loan Guarantee for PMAY


AMARAVATI: On Wednesday, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet sanctioned a government guarantee to APTIDCO for a loan exceeding Rs 4,000 crore to construct housing units and related infrastructure under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the enhancement of Piduguralla Government Medical College through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

A press release stated, “The Cabinet has agreed to provide a government guarantee to Andhra Pradesh Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation for a loan of Rs 4,451 crore aimed at constructing housing units and associated infrastructure under PMAY.”

Recognizing athlete Jyothi Yarraji’s achievements, the Cabinet also approved a grant of a 500 sq ft residential plot in Visakhapatnam and a future government job offer.

Jyothi Yarraji made history by becoming the first Indian woman to compete in the 100 m hurdles at the Olympics, representing India in Paris 2024.

The Cabinet further empowered the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) commissioner to manage pension transfers for landless orphans in cases where both parents have passed away. The previous prohibitions on such transfers have been amended.

In another decision, the Cabinet approved the cancellation of tenders for infrastructure projects at 29 locations and the completion of outstanding works under PMAY (U) 1.0, amounting to Rs 226 crore.

Concerning land issues, the Cabinet agreed to surrender government land to the Forest Department to develop the Krishnapatnam Port container complex, which includes road and rail connectivity.

The Cabinet also approved the transfer of 468 acres of government land to the Forest Department to allow the diversion of 1,033 acres of forest land for the port’s development.

Furthermore, the Cabinet authorized the sale of nine acres of government land in Visakhapatnam to a hospital based in Hyderabad for the establishment of a world-class health, education, and research center, valued at over Rs 192 crore.

On the energy front, the Cabinet approved a special term loan of Rs 900 crore from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd (HUDCO) for the Andhra Pradesh Power Finance Corporation Ltd (APPFCL) to acquire power, coal, and meet other needs.
