Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan has recently purchased three adjacent parcels of land in Alibaug, a coastal town near Mumbai, to construct a luxurious villa known for its scenic sea views and celebrity ownership.
The combined size of the parcels is a quarter of an acre, with the actor reportedly spending around Rs 10 crore on the acquisition, which was officially registered on Tuesday.
The esteemed actor acquired the plots from HOABL Landbuild and paid a total stamp duty of approximately Rs 40 lakhs for the three distinct transactions, according to documents from the real estate analytics firm CRE Matrix.
In a previous transaction, the Bachchan family purchased another quarter-acre plot in Ayodhya for Rs 12.42 crore, in addition to acquiring 1.25 acres for the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust in that temple town.
Real estate remains a favored investment avenue among high-net-worth individuals, with Bollywood personalities actively acquiring properties not just for personal enjoyment but also as financial ventures.
Recently, actor Kartik Aaryan made his land investment debut by buying a 2,000 sq ft plot within the same coastal development in Alibaug, while actor Kriti Sanon had acquired a similar-sized parcel beforehand.
RealtyDailyNews’s inquiries sent via email to Amitabh Bachchan’s team and HoABL have gone unanswered.
The Bachchan family is systematically expanding its real estate portfolio, characterized by substantial acquisitions in both residential and commercial domains. Their recent purchases reflect a combination of investment strategies and legacy initiatives, including land for the Harivansh Rai Bachchan Memorial Trust.
The family’s property collection features several notable bungalows, including Jalsa, Prateeksha, and Janak in the upscale Juhu area of Mumbai. Recently, the couple gifted their opulent bungalow, Prateeksha, to their daughter Shweta Nanda.
Alibaug’s appealing landscapes and its closeness to South Mumbai have made it a highly coveted area for property investment. Efforts by the government to enhance connectivity through initiatives like the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), improved roadways, transport advancements, and the upcoming Navi Mumbai international airport are propelling real estate development.
Enhanced accessibility is boosting the demand for luxury second homes, thus attracting developers and home buyers alike. As property values rise and infrastructure expands, Alibaug is quickly becoming a prominent residential hub.
