VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Thursday that Amaravati is being developed into a creative city, characterized by unique architecture and lush greenery. While chairing the 55th CRDA Authority meeting, he highlighted that comprehensive studies on architectural standards have been completed for the capital, emphasizing the need for construction speed and quality to go hand in hand.
The CRDA Authority approved key projects, including the construction of Lok Bhavan, a governor’s residence complex with a budget of Rs 169 crore. They also sanctioned a Rs 7,380 crore loan from NABARD for infrastructure development in Amaravati. Additionally, tenders worth Rs 532 crore were approved to connect the E-3 seed access road with National Highway 16, and for the establishment of the AP Judicial Academy at the cost of Rs 165 crore.
The Chief Minister reviewed 85 ongoing projects in the capital region, encompassing government buildings, housing for ministers, MLAs, senior officials, judges, and employees, along with roads, power, water supply, and LPS infrastructure. Naidu urged officials to adhere strictly to timelines and ensure high-quality workmanship, insisting that the buildings should be completed ahead of schedule.
He directed the CRDA to embark on extensive beautification initiatives, including a proposal to install a statue of N.T. Rama Rao at Neerukonda and to honor figures like Alluri Sitarama Raju and Potti Sriramulu as symbols of Telugu pride. He stated that the statues should reflect Telugu culture and suggested involving people of Telugu descent globally in this project following a study of significant national and international monuments.
Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana mentioned that 16,666 acres would be designated for the international sports city, inner ring road, railway corridor, and other capital projects. He noted that farmers from capital villages have responded positively during recent consultations and are willing to participate in the second phase of land pooling. The consultation process will continue to address their concerns, with a 10-year package offered to participating farmers similar to the first phase. The minister also announced the completion of 15 Anganwadi centers, schools, and a primary health center in the capital area, which will be inaugurated by the end of December, aiming to finish residential complexes for government officials by March.
