Ahmedabad Road Projects Will Impact 8,767 Properties

AHMEDABAD: During its meeting on Wednesday, the AMC’s town planning committee revealed that 8,767 properties will be affected by over 200 road widening and opening initiatives. The opening of 103 roads spanning five zones will impact 4,543 properties. Work on these roads is set to start soon, and alternative arrangements will be made for residents affected, provided they can show proof of residency from before 2010.

Road widths are assigned when the AMC creates town planning schemes. Increased traffic can lead to the widening of existing roads, pending state government approval. Proposals for road widening are submitted every 10 years, with plans approved alongside city development strategies. Compensation is required if road opening projects necessitate the acquisition of legal properties; however, no compensation will be offered for illegal properties, according to officials.

In the North West Zone, 33 roads will be widened, affecting 994 properties; in the Central Zone, six roads will impact 133 properties. The South West Zone will see 14 roads widened, impacting 512 properties, while the West Zone will have 27 roads widened, affecting 1,429 properties. Lastly, the North Zone will see 23 roads opened, impacting 1,475 properties.

In total, 74 roads across the city’s west in three zones will be widened or opened, impacting 2,981 properties.
