AHMEDABAD: The estate-TDO department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) commenced the demolition of 25 houses in Snehanjali Society, Thaltej on Wednesday. This action followed prior demolition notices, which sparked protests from the affected residents.
In light of the land dispute, the AMC has opted to provisionally relocate residents to flats in the Gujarat Housing Board colony located in Naranpura.
A meeting was convened between AMC officials and members of the society, wherein residents agreed to the alternative housing proposal. They also assured the AMC that they would accept any decisions regarding rent and financial matters made by the civic body and the Gujarat Housing Board. According to sources, most houses in Snehanjali Society have now been demolished.
