Abhay Khand Residents in Ghaziabad Seek Civic Solutions

GHAZIABAD: Residents of GDA flats in Abhay Khand, Indirapuram, are confronting various civic challenges, including blocked sewers, crumbling roads, encroached green spaces, and tainted water supply. They’ve been waiting for a service road in the area for the past 12 years, in addition to a reliable security system.

“The flats were registered as residential properties, yet commercial activities are rampant,” Bhuwan Rawat, a local resident, expressed to TOI.

GDA flats are part of the broader Indirapuram Yojna developed by the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), featuring numerous residential units. Abhay Khand is a sought-after residential neighborhood within Indirapuram, primarily known for its 2 BHK apartments.

According to Rawat, the area’s sewer system is perpetually clogged, causing overflow onto the streets. “We’ve been receiving extremely dirty and foul-smelling water from the taps for the past six months. The roads are in poor condition, and we’ve been waiting for a service road to be built for 12 years. Each time we file complaints, we are given empty promises that the work will be completed in two months,” Rawat explained.

Residents are also troubled by the encroachment of green belts by shopkeepers. “They have cut down the trees and plants we planted and set up their businesses in the area,” another resident added.

Additionally, locals lament the lack of security. “There’s no security system in our neighborhood. Anyone can enter and exit freely. On multiple occasions, people have entered homes, climbed rooftops, and stolen items such as motors and pipes. This is a serious breach of security,” Rawat remarked.

We await a response from GDA and GMC regarding these concerns.
