Lucknow Civic Body Acts to Collect House Tax Dues

LUCKNOW: The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) launched a comprehensive initiative on Wednesday to recover outstanding house tax, resulting in the sealing and attachment of numerous residential and commercial properties across multiple zones. Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar directed this tax recovery effort with the aim of enhancing revenue. Officials confirmed that enforcement actions against tax defaulters will persist.

LMC teams sealed several properties in zone-1 due to unpaid dues. A building on Naval Kishore Road was sealed for an outstanding house tax of ₹17.94 lakh. Following this action, the owner promptly paid ₹4 lakh to the corporation. Additionally, two properties on BN Road were sealed for arrears of ₹1.21 lakh and ₹1.62 lakh, respectively. Another property faced sealing for dues amounting to ₹1.6 lakh. The operation was overseen by zonal officer Anurag Upadhyay along with the tax department team.

In zone-5, significant defaulters faced attachment and sealing actions in the Chitraguptanagar ward. The government veterinary hospital building in Jafar Kheda was sealed for failure to pay ₹24.13 lakh. This operation was supervised by assistant municipal commissioner and zonal officer Vineet Kumar Singh.

In zone-7, 63 shops were sealed during the operation. Of these, 33 shops in Sai Market opposite BBD College were sealed for nearly ₹14 lakh in overdue property tax. Another 30 shops in areas such as Kailash Kunj (Block-A), Indiranagar, Kanchana Bihari Marg, and Kalyanpur were sealed for dues exceeding ₹10 lakh. The drive in zone-7 successfully collected ₹15.12 lakh.

Kumar stated, “Property tax is a crucial source of revenue for the civic body,” urging defaulters to settle their outstanding payments.
