Gurugram: Illegal Colonies Demolished Near KMP Expressway

GURUGRAM: The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has launched a demolition initiative targeting unauthorized colonies in Sultanpur and near the KMP Expressway.

Officials reported that this action is part of a renewed effort to eliminate illegal plotting and construction in the KMP area, where rising property values have led to an influx of unregulated settlements.

Accompanied by police forces, officials dismantled a 6-acre unauthorized colony, removing four DPC structures, boundary walls, and a road system. Developers had erected these illegal buildings to attract unsuspecting buyers, with such “preliminary plotting” often misleading investors into believing they had government approval for land near the expressway.

A second illegal colony, spanning 2.3 acres, was also targeted where a dealer’s office, boundary wall, and internal roadways were destroyed.

“The KMP zone has transformed into a hotspot for illegal colonies due to improved connectivity and industrial growth. Today’s operation aimed to convey that unauthorized development will not be tolerated,” a senior DTCP official remarked.

District Town Planner (Enforcement) Amit Madholia added, “The KMP corridor remains under rigorous surveillance.”

Furthermore, acting in response to a complaint from the CM Window, enforcement teams demolished an illegally constructed shop within Wembley Estate’s group housing society in Sector 50. Officials emphasized that this swift action demonstrates the department’s commitment to address citizen complaints and curb unauthorized commercial activities within residential areas.

As the KMP region is set for significant economic activities in the forthcoming years, officials stated that continued enforcement will be vital to prevent chaotic development. “Our priority is to ensure that growth around KMP is well-planned, lawful, and serves the public interest,” the DTCP official concluded.
