CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) has extended its property tax amnesty scheme until the end of October. Now, property owners can benefit from a 50% discount on penalty charges.
Municipal Commissioner G. Shreekanth stated, “The initial response to the amnesty was tremendous, with many property owners settling their dues. This initiative significantly boosted revenue for the civic body. Given the demand to continue, we have decided to extend the scheme to the end of October.”
The scheme, originally launched from July 15 to August 31 with a 95% penalty waiver, was first extended to September 17 with a 75% discount. Known as ‘Freedom From Penalty’, this program has successfully gathered around Rs 100 crore in outstanding dues.
Initially targeting only residential properties, the scheme now includes commercial and industrial properties as well.
Civic authorities have warned that once the amnesty period concludes, a strong drive will commence to collect any remaining dues from property holders by the end of the current financial year. Citizens are encouraged to settle their payments promptly to avoid penalties.
