LUCKNOW: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced on Thursday that the recently introduced stamp duty concessions for women will also extend to ex-servicemen and persons with disabilities (PwDs).
This announcement came during a review meeting of the stamp and registration department. Women, PwDs, and ex-servicemen will receive a 1% reduction in stamp duty, capped at Rs 1 lakh. The relief is applicable on property valued up to Rs 1 crore, with the rebate cap increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 1 lakh.
The Chief Minister further stated that, based on a pilot project conducted in five districts, e-payment will be mandatory for registration fees exceeding Rs 20,000. “Aadhaar authentication is necessary to prevent fraud. Additionally, we should simplify the registration process for authority allottees by implementing an e-registration system through a single-window platform,” he mentioned.
The CM instructed the department to expedite the recruitment process for vacant positions and suggested exploring alternative options for stamp sales while rationalizing vendor commissions. He also recommended waiving stamp duty and registration fees for leasing small and medium enterprises for a period of up to 10 years.
Stamp and Registration Minister Ravindra Jaiswal informed the CM that 99% of the digitization of registered deeds from 2002 to 2017 has been completed, with the next phase of work underway.
“Currently, over 98% of registration work is conducted through e-stamps. Discrepancies have been addressed by updating the valuation lists across various districts, and CCTV cameras are being installed to enhance security at sub-registration offices,” Jaiswal added.
