HYDERABAD: Justice K Lakshman of the Telangana High Court ordered the principal secretary of the Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Department to launch a thorough investigation into the alleged illegal constructions by M/s Net Net Ventures at Nandagiri Hills in Jubilee Hills.
The ruling came in response to a petition from the Nandagiri Hills Cooperative House Building Society urging the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other authorities to take action based on a Vigilance & Enforcement (V&E) report dated June 18, 2024, which pointed out significant building code violations by Net Net Ventures.
Some notable violations include unauthorized ramps in setback areas, excessive building height, nuisance caused by night-time construction, and contraventions of environmental clearance and building permits.
Justice Lakshman commented that despite the findings of the V&E report, the GHMC commissioner had urged the government to halt further actions rather than ensure compliance. He stated, “Severe allegations exist against the builder, Net Net Ventures, including obtaining permits through misrepresentation and breaching numerous regulations.”
Key Directions: The judge has instructed the MA&UD principal secretary to conduct an inquiry within two months, examining the recommendations of the V&E report, the actions of former GHMC Commissioner Amrapali Kata, and adherence to environmental and building standards. As the builder contested the GHMC’s demolition order in the city civil court, the HC judge directed the Chief Judge of the City Small Causes Court to take these factors into account during its evaluation of the builder’s plea. The next hearing is scheduled for October 6, with the previous status quo order remaining in effect until further notice.
