JAIPUR: To curb monsoon-related incidents, the Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Heritage (JMC-H) and Greater Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC-G) took decisive action by demolishing nine unsafe structures on Monday in areas including Tripolia Bazaar, Maniharon Ka Rasta, and Tagore Path.
In the JMC-H zone, a section of an unstable building in Ward 72’s Maniharon Ka Rasta was torn down and sealed. Similar actions took place at Nataniyon Ki Haveli in Tripolia and Khejron Ka Rasta.
In the JMC-G zone, bulldozers were employed to dismantle five perilously weak buildings in Mansarovar.
“We have identified 126 dilapidated structures in the Heritage zone, 48 of which pose critical risks,” stated Nidhi Patel, commissioner of JMC-H.
Deputy commissioner of vigilance at JMC-H, Pushpendra Singh Rathore, commented, “Many of these buildings have long-standing tenants. As a result, owners often neglect repairs, leading to hazardous conditions. We are now sealing and demolishing these structures.”
In Mansarovar, deputy commissioner Laxmikant Katara mentioned, “Prior warnings and notifications had been issued, but there was no response. For public safety, we had to take action.” Gaurav Saini, commissioner of JMC-G, added, “Out of 296 identified buildings in the Greater area, notices have been served to 287.”
