BENGALURU: On Sunday, BJP leader Tejasvi Surya announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengaluru to inaugurate the Yellow Line Metro on August 10.
During this visit, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase-3.
In a post on ‘X’, Surya stated, “Hon. PM Sri @narendramodi Ji’s visit to Bengaluru on August 10 will be a landmark moment for Bengaluru South. He will not only inaugurate the long-anticipated Yellow Line Metro operations but also lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase-3—a project approved by the Cabinet in the first 100 days of his third term.”
Surya mentioned that the Yellow Line is expected to serve nearly eight lakh commuters, significantly alleviating the notorious Silk Board congestion. He emphasized that public transport is crucial for easing traffic woes.
“Together, these initiatives will benefit approximately 25 lakh residents in Bengaluru South,” he added.
By inaugurating it on August 10, the Yellow Line Metro project will meet its target deadline of August 15, a feat made possible by Modi’s insistence on not delaying the project further.
Surya, who is also the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), quoted Union Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on ‘X’: “I’m pleased to announce that the Hon’ble Prime Minister has kindly agreed to inaugurate the 19.15 km Yellow Line from RV Road to Bommasandra of the Bengaluru metro, featuring 16 stations at a cost of ₹5,056.99 crores, along with laying the foundation stone for 44.65 km of Bangalore Phase-3 at a cost of ₹15,611 crores on August 10, 2025.”
Surya recently staged a demonstration advocating for the opening of the Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro Rail project.
