Pay Property Tax by July 31 for Benefits: Ludhiana Chief

LUDHIANA: With just one week remaining for residents to settle their outstanding property tax without incurring any interest or penalties, MC commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal has urged them to take advantage of the one-time settlement (OTS) scheme by submitting their dues by July 31.

The MC chief has instructed zonal commissioners, superintendents, and other officials to hasten the collection of dues from residents and take action against defaulters. He convened a meeting at the zone ‘D’ office of the civic body in Sarabha Nagar on Thursday, attended by MC additional commissioner Paramdeep Singh, assistant commissioner (UT) Pragati Rani, and zonal commissioners Abhishek Sharma (zone A), Neeraj Jain (zone B), Gurpal Singh (zone C), and Jasdev Singh Sekhon (zone D), among other officials.

Similar guidance has been provided to the operations and maintenance (O&M) cell officials regarding the recovery of water and sewer bills from residents. Civic officials emphasized that property tax should be paid annually based on self-assessment. A penalty of 20% and 18% annual interest will be applied to unpaid amounts. Under the new OTS scheme, residents can meet their tax obligations by July 31 without facing any penalties or interest, and payments can be made at the suvidha kendras located in the civic body’s zonal offices.

MC Suvidha Kendras to Remain Open This Weekend

To facilitate timely payment of property taxes, MC commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal has directed that the zonal suvidha kendras will operate this Saturday (July 26) and Sunday (July 27).
